CHICAGO (CBS) – U.S. Customs agents at O’Hare International Airport helped save the life of a man who collapsed on Sunday.

A 68-year-old man, who had flown in from Poland, collapsed and passed out while in the inspection area at the International Terminal at O’Hare, after he had been processed, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Chief Officer Brian Bell says he responded to a call over the radio, and helped an agriculture specialist, who was performing CPR.

Once a defibrillator arrived, Bell – a former paramedic – and his colleagues used it to restart the man’s heart.

Bell says it was the same unit he had used about six years ago to help another passenger who had collapsed in customs.

He credits his fellow officers with saving the man, saying it was really a team effort.
